Some of the highlights of the first conference day at the CNCC:

• IPCC co-chair Panmao Zhai talked about IPCC and CORDEX
• Pavel Kabat laid out a clear statement of the challenges facing the world with climate change in the coming decades, motivating challenges for the climate research community in general and for WCRP in particular as it develops its Implementation Plan.
• Filippo Giorgi and Congbin Fu gave us clear histories of the development of regional climate modeling over the past 30 years.
• The presented WCRP Core Projects offer substantial opportunities for cross-program interactions with CORDEX that should guide the development of the WCRP Implementation Plan.
